Meet the Team
The dedicated student journalists behind The Hawks' Nest, working to bring you the latest news and stories from Champlain Valley Union High School.

Grace Warrington
Editor-in-Chief
My name is Grace Warrington and I'm the Editor-in-chief and co-founder of this new version of the CVU school newspaper, The Hawks' Nest. I am a high school Junior and an avid linguist who started this newspaper in part to have an additional place to practice editing. I believe the student voice is a vital aspect of a high school's community and that it is important to have an outlet for students to share that voice. The Hawks' Nest follows in the footsteps of many previous CVU newspapers before it, and it is my wish that the legacy of The Hawks' Nest can continue after its founders graduate. I hope that the paper will be picked up by a new generation of newspaper writers, editors, and photographers who are just as enthusiastic about it as we are.

Karmen Wilbur
Managing Editor
I have been writing for many years, mainly short stories and poems. When the paper started, I began writing articles. I have enjoyed learning about this new format and everything that goes into running a newspaper.

Lily Gruber
Managing Editor
My name is Lily Gruber (class of 26) and I'm a Managing Editor at the Hawks Nest Newspaper. I write articles, co-facilitate club meetings and design illustrations and graphics. This project was interesting to me because I love stories—through a newspaper, these stories become accessible to a larger group of people. This is important to me because I think that students should have the opportunity to be informed about what is happening in the spaces around them, especially as changes occur. Outside of school, I joined CCTV (public media broadcasting) as an intern, and have participated in CVU's Performing Arts, Madrigals (a choral group) FBLA and Amnesty International throughout the school year. I'm so happy to be a part of the Hawks Nest, and can't wait to watch it grow.

Mikaela Montoya
Business Manager
My name's Mikaela Montoya and I'm a CVU student, Class of 26. I have served as a Vermont State Officer for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for the past three years learning invaluable skills that have instilled organizational management proficiencies as well as social impact management responsiveness and attentiveness. I'm also a student council and program council representative actively involved in making CVU an amazing environment to be part of. Outside of school I love to read books about business and astrophysics. I'm also a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and an avid runner with four half marathons and 1 full marathon under my belt. Soon to be 3 marathons. My goal post graduation is to major in Astrophysics and to make my contribution in the field of science. As for now, being part of CVU's revolutionary Hawks Nest is truly an honor and a joy to build and watch us grow.
